Antique ( early 1800’s)Cast Brass, petal bell. Plain, egg shaped with only a gentle hump around the middle.
Measurements: 8” high, 7.5” in diameter. Please see photos below for more details.
Makers mark consists of rectangle. Light but un defined markings inside.
Antique moniker listed based on following characteristics:
- rose gold or brownish gold when polished.
- throat slot ends in large circular openings.
- shank; no rivets in this era.
1845-1920 had a distinct ridge or rim around the middle.
Note: the entire bell was polished.
Special effort was made on the makers mark.
All that I read says I should not ‘ over due’ the cleaning.
As a farm bell novice, I choose to try to further identify that portion only.
