An exceptional group of 4 miniature birds by Arthur Peltier of West Warwick, Rhode Island. Born in 1907, passed in 1982.
His carvings are mostly from the 3rd quarter of the 20th century. 3 signed A. Peltier, 1 unsigned but definitely by his hand.
The largest one has both a hen and a male pheasant carved in the scene with a detailed ground base with a stone fence across region with tall trees etc. This largest example measures 11 7/8” by 11 1/2” inches.
The remaining three are birds with various branch designs with colorful backgrounds of ground and trees. Each bird is marked on backside with their type. They measure 6 3/4” square and the matching two measure 6 3/8” inches square.
All four dioramas have convex glass and all in nice condition. Biggest example is one of the best I’ve seen by this maker.
Simply an exceptional lot by this maker.
