1933-34 CHICAGO WORLDS FAIR CENTURY OF PROGRESS 1933 & 1934 METAL
These 1933-34 Century of Progress Keys to the Worlds Fair were part of our huge Worlds Fair and Exposition Collection. We mostly collected 1933/34 and 1939/40 items but also have many pieces from much earlier to much later Fairs. We offered the entire collection as a buy it now on with no takers and have since been selling it piece by piece. My husband, seller named Jal12147 and I will be listing pieces till it’s all sold.
Here is a pair of keys to the fair souvenirs. One is from 1933 and one is from 1934, covering both years the fair existed. Both are made of metal.
The 1933 Key to the Fair is 8-3/8” long and 2-7/16” at the widest part. The key is copper tone in color with some black highlighting. The copper color appears to actually be in the metal it’s made with. The top shows the Hall of Science and the word “Chicago” on one side and the Travel and Transport Building and “1933” on the reverse. The nub that unlocks the door says “Key to Chicago Worlds Fair” on one side and “”A Century of Progress 1933” on the other side. It has a pointed end.
The 1934 key is painted with a copper metallic paint; the paint shows some wear. It’s 8” long and 2-5 /8” at the widest part. The top features the Hall of Science on one side and the Travel and Transport Building on the other. The unlocking nub features a castle and the word “Belgium” on one side and the Enchanted Island on the other. Century of Progress 1934 is on one side of the staff and Chicago 1934 is on the other.
Both keys are in good condition befitting their age with no flaws or defects. Please let me know if you have any questions or need more pictures. Thanks for looking!
