CUBA NY 1890s sheriff letter lot. These are letters written to Cheif Of Police H.K. Marsh. Some of the letters of note are from the constable or Olean NY reaching out for help for “a very light skinned collored (sic) boy and his friend…that escaped from the Rochester Reformatory.” A telegramto Marsh (Chief of Police) to look out for a rare book that was stolen. Another telegram about a store being burgled for “three new rubber satchels” Ordinaces and by laws of cuba ny from 1877, a document with notations from 1891 from the state of NY saying that “Every Tramp, upon conviction as such shall be punished by imprisonment at hard labor…” A letter from the Chief of Poicr of Salamanca saying “a man Remus you were looking for is here and goes by the name Johnson. He has got a big nose…he is going away thursday..come soon. Also a handful of summons and other letters from sheriffs from other counties. Some real great historical documents.
