1886 J.P. Morgan Signed New Jersey Junction Railroad Stock Certificate
A 100 year bond issued from the New Jersey Junction Railroad Company signed by trustee, J. Pierpont Morgan. The certificate is embossed with circular stamps of the NJJRR Co. and the NY Central Hudson RR Co. (to which the NJJRR was leased.) Morgan owned and influenced many rail road companies leading to his firm grip over the Nation\'s transportation industry.
John Pierpont Morgan (1837-1913) is the most notable financier and banker in history. Morgan amassed immense wealth through reorganizing and consolidating companies, an innovative business strategy of the day. Most notably, Morgan gained great power and influence over America\'s transportation, construction, and energy industries through owning a majority of the railroad, steel, oil and electric companies.
Morgan also saved the American financial system in 1907 with a tremendous bail out to the US Treasury Department.
Fun fact: Morgan was also a well known collector. He helped create and support the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
