It is very rare to find an Inca Capococha couple made by the same hand. This is an exquisite pair of original antique Pre-Columbian Inca Silver-copper alloy figurines. The Inca Capocacha male and female couple figures were made by the Inca (Inka) People and were used in ceremonies related to the afterlife during the Inca Empire. The dark silver-copper colored figurines depict a female and male couple, the female's hair with a flat tie at the base of her hair, and the male with a leg out, both have their hands close to their chest, most likely had a ritual significance, which has been since lost. These could have come from any of the high altitude territories of what was the Inca Emprire, namely the Andean region, which includes Ecuador, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. These figures are more closely related to those found in the high altitudes of Chile and Argentina. These figures date to approximately1400-1500 Common Era, which was the height of the Inca Civilization, before the arrival of the Spanish. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of history. Couples are hard to find!
Condition:Excellent condition. Nice aged patina, I have not cleaned nor polished them. Minor scuffs and wear commensurate with age and use. Please see photos.
