These Holophane 685 14" diameter, Circa 1940's -1950's's are in absolutely wonderful condition. These must have illuminated a temperature controlled building with no corrosives in the atmosphere, the finish is nice! The glass is in excellent condition with no cracks at all. These originally were protected with an aluminum cover over the glass that protected it.
The original sockets were mogul base socket. I opted to remove them in favor of new UL Listed sockets with a ground wire. (Pass your inspections!) I also installed a 1 1/4" machined socket extension to bring the bulb further down into the glass shade where it can perform as intended. Todays bulbs are shorter than the bulbs originally used in these Holophane lights.
The original asbestos gaskets were removed and replace with new, factory cut gaskets for your safety.
Knurled Knobstwist freely and allow easy removal of the shade for cleaning: no tools are required. Absolutely wonderful condition, the new owner will be pleased.
The bottom is 14" diameter overall including the frame that holds the glass.The light was photographed with a 6 inch down-rod. Also available free of charge, are 3 inch rods or 12 inch. From the bottom of the light to the ceiling is 20".
The UL Listed swivel hangers are perfect for keeping the lights hanging true. Also provides protection from accidental bumps and bruises.
