View Larger Image   Red Wing Stoneware Jug, Crock   Description: This wide mouth jug or crock is bottom marked Red Wing Stoneware Co. I think this mark dates from 1906 to the early '20's. In good, displayable condition with only minor chipping at the base. Normal for the age of this type of item. It has a hole near the top or shoulder for a rope that was used to hang this and its contents in cold water like a well. I think this was probably used for buttermilk?. It would have been sealed with a cork. Glossy brown glaze.
