The lighter does not work. It’s a good looking piece, we were going to use it as a prop in a play but it will not stay lit.

For safety reasons it is not meant to stay lit, it's a lighter for using with cigarettes and cigars. No lighter will stay perpetually lit unless made specifically for the purpose you are proposing.
