An honest assessment of the Schrade Old Timer Cave Bear Lockback Knife 7OT
The first thing that you need to know about the Schrade Old Timer Cave Bear Lockback Knife 7OT is that its not a Buck 110 even though its the same overall size & it looks a lot like the classic Buck 110 Folding Hunter and its actually heavier than the Buck 110. Its simply not the quality of the Buck 110, the finish of the knifes handles is very poor & rough with the exception of the blade which is actually very sharp & sturdy with no blade wiggle. It opens well enough but closing it requires a lot of strength as the lockblade spring is super strong, therefore I can only recommend this knife for a strong tall man with large hands. As far as price goes, its 1/4 of the price of the Buck 110 so if you are on a budget & want a large and cheap general purpose utility knife for home or work ... Schrade Old Timer Cave Bear Knife
Is this a joke? Looks and feels like a total fake. the handle has more scratches in it than I can count , the 'brass' is discolored to the point of being ugly. The rivets are a different color. the blade says schrade ... Having several old timers I find it hard to believe it's real......if this it what their REALLY putting out their gonna go out of business. NOT the pretty knife in the picture. Not the quality old timer [same #'s same marking same cave bear knife] I could have got at the local brick store. That's what I get for try'n to save $4-5. Very disappointed UGLY and sharp edges on the handle ...well basically everything that can make a knife ugly this one has it. Is this a joke? New Old Timer versus New Old Timer.
The Schrade Old Timer folding hunting knife is just like one I've been using since the 80's. Quality appears just as good. Time will tell! This one is made in China, my original was made in the U.S.A.
