THIS IS A LOVELY CARVED OAK ENGLISH BAROMETER / THERMOMETER MADE IN THE 1920s BY T.A.R.S & W LTD. FOR T A REYNOLDS & SON, LONDON. THE BACK OF THE TIMBER PANEL IS STAMPED WITH AN IMPRESSED LOGO FOR TARS & W LTD BUT THIS WAS QUITE DIFFICULT TO CAPTURE IN THE PHOTO AS THE IMPRESSION IS ONLY SHALLOW. T A Reynolds Sons & Wardale worked from 40-41 Percivale Street EC1 London and are listed in Graces Guide to British Industry as exhibiting at the British Industries Fair in 1947 as Manufacturers of Scientific Instruments; Barometers, Thermometers, Barographs, Hydrographs, Salinometers, Surveying, Pocket and Ships Aneroids. They produced a considerable number of military items during World War II. The company was dissolved in 1973. THE CONDITION IS GOOD & BOTH BAROMETER & THERMOMETER ARE WORKING. PLEASE REFER TO IMAGES AS PART OF THE CONDITION REFERENCE. THIS PIECE IS 58 CM HIGH X 22 CM WIDE X 6 CM THICK. THIS HAS BEEN HANGING ON THE WALL IN OUR HOUSE BY THE SEA IN NORTHERN NSW, SINCE THE LATE 60s.
