Justas Mexico has its world class potters in Mata Ortiz, Nicaragua has a small townknown for it\'s potters as well, namely San Juan de Oriente.

For the collector who appreciates the finest and rarest hand made works of art. In my opinion the nicest piece of pottery from Nicaragua I have seen offered (on or any other site including art galleries)

Impressive size and stunning hand incised detail by Master potter Casta Gutierrez (the matriarch of the renowned Gutierrez family)

She retired/stopped making her one of a kind carved pieces in 2011. (she passed away a few months ago from the pandemic virus)

The piece is hand thrown, handcarved and etched using the sgrafitto technique that produces a raised/3D effect. Worthy of being in a museum collection.

Hasintricate carved/etched Mayan motif surrounding this piece. Even the base of the pieceis hand carved to perfection as is the matching stand.

I am the original owner (since 2011) I wouldsay mint but to be safe I will say a 9.99 out of 10!! This is not amass produced tourist piece (made in a mold and painted in factories/shops where they make hundreds of the same piece for the tourist trade)

This piece will require a very large box and an abundance of bubble wrap (I always over pack) With insurance..
