Matchlessantiques is offering collectors this NEAR MINT 132 lb. AMERICAN made by The American Wrought Anvil Co. located in Brooklyn, NY. Look at this beauty. It\'s one of the best anvils money can buy when it comes to forging because it\'s got the best rebound you can find anywhere, hands down.
The story goes that Walter F. Ring was the secretary / treasurer for the Hay Budden company who quit to start his own company in 1899 and continued until 1910, when it may have been bought out by Hay Budden or just liquidated possibly due to Hay Budden\'s new technique of making anvil with the whole top have being forged from tool steel. The American brand looks very similar to the early Hay Buddens, including underside of the base is more flat. Made like the early HBs it has both top and bottom half made of wrought iron with a thick tool steel face plate. This particular American is in absolute fantastic condition and the rebound is actually better than most Hay Buddens I\'ve tested (nearly 100 percent). The anvil is marked \"AMERICAN\" on the side with the weight stamp \"132\" below it. (middle number was stamped twice, 3 is correct). The face is perfect flat and the edges are in near perfect condition. You don\'t see a lot of this brand anvil because there wasn\'t as many made, so don\'t miss this chance to own a piece of history that you can still use to forge on.Please take a close look at the pictures.
