This is a newly-manufactured clock I bought from Proclocks earlier this early year but now I need to sell. I had set the clock up to check it is working fine, but then not used since.
This clock is based on the principles John Harrison developed to create the first chronometers circa 1765- The story to develop clock that kept keep accurate time at sea was told in the book \"Longitude\" by Dava Sobel. The development of the Harrisons fourth model in 1765 was finally accurate enough to let mainers, for the first time in history, correctly determine their longitude location and avoud the any shipwrecks of the past.
The Harrison clocks used double compensating pendulums and a Grasshopper type escapement to reduce friction and inprove accuracy. . This clock features three fces for hours, minutes, and monthly moon position,. It was patterned on the much higher priced Sinclair Lewis clock of Yorkshire England.. The clock uses an 8-day spring wind with a fussee ( i.e., a conicaal drum ) to equialize the spring output forcefor higher accuracy, The double pendumoms include backing posts where weights can be moved up or down to adjust the times. The clock is oilless requiring no lublication.
The clock is quite stunning being finished in beautiful gold plating. The clock dials use fine inlays and the moon dial is hand painted. The clock comes with a gass case with a front opening door. It also has a drawer in the base which holds the included winding key.
This clock is is quite unique and beautiful, a great. talking center piece. I will even add in a copt of the \"Longitude\" Book to go with it.
I will package well and ship out quickly.
