Antique Vintage Tobacco smoking pipes books.Back in the 90\'s I had bought a coffee can full of old tobacco pipes and was looking for a good book for reference. In need of some tobacco I stopped in a local shop in Englewood Co and at the end of my conversation with the owner he told me of this periodical back east that I might be interested in.
So I wrote down the address and sent off a letter with a contribution to a gentleman who would turn out to be Tom Dunn. What a gentleman he was. Within two weeks a package arrived with some back issues in perfect condition. That was my introduction to \"The Pipe Smokers Ephemeris\".
So about twice a year this magazine would arrive, you never knew when, but I just couldn\'t wait to open it. Funny thing was he never charged a dime for them, not even the postage. He had a passion and with that you quickly realized that he was a real throwback, for money was not the driving force behind his endeavor. One year in the late 90\'s as I recall I received a beautiful membership card and a boss decal of a large pipe with the Pipe Smokers Ephemeris logo rounding the decal which I promptly attached to the inside window of my Mercedes. Now many years later I wish I had them both back.
This 1st edition of the 1st 15 years of The Pipe Smokers Ephemeris ( 1964 - 1979 ) is a great collection of info of ;
Pipes
Tobacco
Short stories
Humorous anecdotes
Pics of members both smoking and carving/ creating pipes.But they always came across as chill...I think thats the antithesis of pipe smoking

It just left you with this warm feeling after reading them that this club you belonged to was special, not for the membership really but for the down home comradery that came through Toms pen or the others that would write-in.
Tom Dunn has passed on now and thus the end of TPSE. But I will always look back at that time when this little periodical brought much joy into my life.
