Antique Single Chain Fusee Lantern Clock By Thomas Parker Aldersgate Not Working.
This single fusee lantern clock has a brass case starting at the top with a larger finial adorning the silvered bell. There are then fretwork panels to the top front and sides leading to the square body of the case. Unfortunately the door to the right hand side of the case is missing although this could easily be made or replaced. The case is then finished by four shaped brass feet.
The dial is then brass and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the inside marking the minutes. The centre of the dial is then engraved as well and being signed by the maker “Thomas Parker St Annes Lane neere Aldersgate fecit” who is a very famous maker and sough after in lantern clocks. The dial is then finished by two shaped hands.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the sides. It has its winding key but unfortunately there is no pendulum although these can easily be bought. The movement is also sold as not working and needing a clean and service although is does tick when pressure is applied to the great wheel and everything seems to be present.
Would make an absolutely fantastic clock when restored and would be a great project although I simply don’t have the time to complete the work myself at the moment.
It measures approximately:
- 15” / 38cm Tall.
- 6” / 15.25cm Wide.
- 5.5” / 14cm Deep.
