Please excuse any glare in the photos. This item includes a blue opaline glass bowl and the accompanying ormolu basket. This piece is estimated to be from the 1900s, likely early. When you look at the outside of the bowl you can see concentric ridges moving towards the bottom. You can also feel these when you move your hand over the outside of the glass. The lower third of the bowl (outside) is very shiny and reflective, where the top (outside) remaining third, approximately 0.75\", has a matte or satin finish. This matte or satin appearance continues to the inside of the bowl. The bowl has an acorn shape without a flat bottom. The bowl is approximately 3.25\" from the edge to the bottom. It measures 4 9/16\" across the top. The metal basket features a heavily decorated, winding grapevine motif that is open throughout. The basket stands about 3 7/8\" in height from a flat surface to the highest point along the edge. If you measure from a flat surface to the top of the handle, it stands at 5 3/8\". The metal this basket is made from is unknown. Unwrapped this set weighs 1 pound 9 ounces.
I believe this to be an antique piece, not vintage, in age. Please review the images carefully. They are provided as a part of the description. The bowl has no major chips and absolutely no cracks. There are about four very superficial flaked chips along the rim (two inside and two outside). The inside of the bowl has some discoloration in bottom (lower third). There are no deep scratches or marks in the bottom. The basket has evidence of oxidation on the outside and inside. There are two small breaks in metal along the edge. One is near a handle and the other sits off-center. These breaks are along the edge of each side (only two total). Close-up photographs have been provided.
