Antique CAST IRON & STEEL LARGE COOK STOVE on FEET, 5 BURNERS, with EXTRA PARTS:
$374.00

Late 19th or EARLY 20th CENTURY
LARGE COOK STOVE
FIVE BURNERS
-- LOCAL PICKUP ONLY --DESCRIPTION:
Victorian or Edwardian, Napoléon III. An unusual, interesting element for shabby cabin decor, to be displayed indoor or out.GW Model 58B.The front details are ornate, with fancy scrolls on the doors & the big door’s frame.
No restoration.
Original aged patina. At some point it was painted silver.
I don’t know if it’s complete. However, its original top pieces are present. And then there are two extra round covers that don\'t go with it. These two extra burner plates are too big to fit into the alcoves of this stove; the recesses into which fit the handles (no handles present) are shaped/configured differently (without any protruding tabs).MARKINGS:Burner plates (original to stove): GW 8B
The lid insert divider: GW 8B
Burner plates (non-original, of which there are two): Unreadable 6P ?
The extra ones are too large to fit the burner holes of this stove.CONDITION:As-is. As found. Poor. Rough & worn.I doubt it’s complete, but from the outside, it does at least appear to be (without any stovepipe).
There’s surface rust on most surfaces. I don’t know if it can ever be used again for its original purpose, but any such attempt would require important restoration. I don’t know enough about it to understand how it had originally worked, or on what fuel (wood?).
This stove has until recently always been stored indoors, out the elements. It was found inside an abandoned homestead in the 1970s, in New Mexico. Our job had been to remove the old house & its contents, in order to build a new one there.
Since then, the stove has been left as found, & unused. Stored indoors from 1985 until 2017.The oven has its original removable iron shelf (rusted, more so on one side).
At some point in its history, someone soldered its round pieces into place. I suppose it was then used as a griddle surface. One of the round pieces is still attached, & it has a crack through it. The others are removable, but one has its edge broken off, in the place it was soldered (it also has one of its square hooks broken away, where the “handle” tool fits into its recess). The third round piece has part of that soldering still stuck to its edge. Some of the edges of the round covers are damaged, with a chunk broken away from one (but still attached to the top of the stove). The undersides still have black char & grease.
Inside, there\'s original debris, dust, & rust residue.
There are two thin square steel plates/sheets on the front & the right side: they’ve rusted away in areas. They can be replaced (not part of the body structure). The center plate burner lid insert divider is still screwed into place, & sits nicely in place. The “grate-vent” on the ride side, a kind of damper/flue for air intake to fuel the fire (seen above the thin rusted-out plate), still slides (it\'s not frozen). Please ask for the extra photos, & for the larger versions of the many small ones come)Diameter of the round burner plates:
The plates that fit the stove top: 8\".The two plates that don\'t fit the stove (one has the plug that sits in its center, marked \"Down Draft\": 8 & 3/16\".REMOVAL:LOCAL PICKUP ONLY.
To be removed from a property located directly on the highway, with easy access to stove by vehicle. I can\'t assist with the lifting or moving of it, or loading into the buyer’s vehicle. It\'ll require several strong men, being very heavy.
PLEASE REQUEST the EXTRA PHOTOS.
