This is a very rare fertility dance mask hand-carved in the form of a water buffalo. It is quite old. Most of these masks were destroyed after the ceremony.
We purchased it in 1982, when it was already vintage, and the receipt is here in an image.
This wonderful piece measures 40\" x 28\" x 12 1/2\". It does have some old breaks in the antlers, but they do not show from the front. There are many newer epoxies now that can really cement this. I am afraid to touch it now.I am going to have UPS make a special box for it to ship, and I will pay the extra charges.Please see my other African sculptures that are on now.
