Roosters always remind me of Key West...and an old part of town called \"Bahama Village\"...an original keepsake of old world island... a time capsule of early settlers to the island in the 1800\'s when several hundred Bahamians came to key West. The city has carved out protections for that unique part of the island so those settlers and their families could always afford to stay on the island. Today it is a raw area of small bungalows with rusted tin roofs...roaming roosters...rampant vegetable gardens and old men riding 3 wheeler bicycles with baskets filled with papayas and melons for sale. It is a bittersweet place to visit...and why roosters always take me back to the streets where they roam free amidst the traffic of scooters and trollies.
