View Larger Image   Household Searchlight Recipe Book 1932 Cookbook   Description: Offering this wonderful 1932 edition of the Household Searchlight Recipe Book (cookbook), published by the Household Magazine, copyright 1931, 2nd printing 1932 (this book was printed every year from the 1930's to 50's).It has black cloth hardboards with geometric pattern; raised detailed lettering and cottage in the trees in orange on front; orange lettering on spine. Good++ condition, no spine cracks, mild corner and spine edge rubs, the lower corners are worn through the cloth, but not fraying any further, or a minor amount noted. Orange and white end papers are rolled over, and torn a little where the index tabs open area is, otherwise a gift note to the new owner with names and a Christmas sticker. Pages are good and clean, white for the most part - about 1% of the book has some light small spots on the pages, and a few pages have margin smudgies that do not affect reading. Some minor soiling or darkening on the page edges. Some expected age toning and paper curling on tabs, letters are still legible; except for about 3-4 have either hand written text or missing lettering, these are mostly minor imperfections that do not affect the text or hundreds of delicious recipes! This book bears the old tab indexes for each catagory, plus an index section in the back of the book. A great old recipe book filled with hundreds of wonderful recipes! We note this is about the best we have seen in this year 1932 (the first printing was in 1931) in the area of the clean pages, and the nice condition of the tabs. We also note that in the early printings (1931 to 1936) of this book, the cover was thiner material than the later years begining in 1937, so the hardboard often are slightly bent into the opening of the tab section, and that is the case with this book, but the bowed front cover is minimal, and is very clean, still looks very nice overall. Still, overall one of the few 2nd printing editions we have had for sale over the past 10 years. A true classic!
