Up for sale is this World War 2 WWII Sperry / MIT Mark 14 Mod 8 Gunsight by Crosley In Excellent Condition. According to the serial #153887 this gunsight came off the Battleship U.S.S. North Carolina!! The gunsight is in nice condition no dents or cracks and the glass is in proper order. All lettering is perfectly clear. Not mechanically tested of course. No missing parts everything is there. Great collectors piece, this is in the Museum at MIT. Some info I found: Produced by the Sperry Gyroscope Company, in collaboration with MIT, the Mark 14 Gunsight is an electropneumatic multipurpose gyroscopic collimator sight, designed to automatically compute the lead for firing on enemy aircraft, using an illuminated reticule and a pair of air-driven gyroscopes. Blue painted steel construction, with the left-offset viewport, sunshield control, which works on this unit, power and gas ports on the left side, range input and fine adjustment knobs on the right, and the illuminator bulb access port on top. In 1943 the revolutionary Gunsight was introduced. This gunsight was developed by Dr. Charles Draper of MIT.
