WWIIJAPANESE TYPE 90 steel combat HELMET With original pig skin liner + Chinstrap in complete and excellent condition. There are no cracks, dents, orimperfections in the shell. The original star is firmly affixed to the front ofthe helmet. The original leather three-section liner is complete with all threepads and original String and remains in mostly supple condition. The webstrap is complete with factory sewn tips and has not been cut or shortened inany way. There are Sewn in writing characters on the strap which may indicate thesoldiers name. There is the usual Japanese character painted in white onthe inner back of the helmet that designates the helmet size. This helmet Waspurchased from the estate of a Marine Okinawa Vet. The family was unsure if theitem was taken from an Okinawa Soldier because their father refused to talkabout his war experiences. Someone conversant in Japanese might be ableto locate the soldier and determine if he was on Okinawa. This is a very fineexample of the classic World War II Japanese combat helmet and in excellentfield used condition. Note: There is a brown ring painted through thestar and around the helmet which is post manufacture. I was told by a militariaexpert that this paint ring was placed there contemporaneously by the soldiersto prevent the helmets from rusting when stacked and is an indication ofgenuineness and WW2 period. Insurance included in shipping.
