Found in an old farm near Riga. Most likely collected by the farmers on battlefield right after the battle and used on a farm for 100 years. Usually farmers take away the dividing wall, but in this case it survived, which is rare. Just washed with water, after proper cleaning may reveal markings.Weight of the item is significant, shipping price to US is calculated, for other locations it is approximate, will be adjusted in invoice. Christmas Battles (Latvian: Ziemassvētku kaujas; German: Aa-Schlachten; Russian: Митавская операция) was offensive operation of Russian army during World War I, conducted in the area of city Jelgava, Latvia by 12th. army of the northern front from December 23 (January 5) until December 29 (January 11) 1916 (1917). Army was commanded by Gen. Radko Dimitriev and it was opposed by 8th. German army.
