Hello dear customers, up for sale is this rare antique WWI 1914-17 Austro-Hungarian Empire special patriotic war propaganda hand fan.This is Austrian red cross issue fan, the money of sales was donated to the Red Cross for a war needs. Viennese opera ball accessory. Folding fan made with cardboard sticks and wooden monture, on back sticks with trompe l'oeil wood effect, sticks connected with a silk ribbon.
At the front the fan featuring printed portraits of Austrian and German allied countries officials. Royalties, important Generals and commanders, all in parade uniforms and each one with facsimile personal signatures autograph bellow. In the centre Kaiser Franz Joseph I of Austria and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. It contents total of 17 portraits. From centre to the left German Commanders and on the right Austrian commanders in my opinion. I'm not specialist in Military history of Germany and Austria. The fan is in near excellent condition for its over 100 years age, insignificant yellowing and spotting, portraits and signature are well preserved. Metal iron bracket and trivet. Found in Vienna.
