In 1977, I approached Wallace Wood with the idea of him creating a limited edition Portfolio based on his love of science fiction and sex. The end result was this Portfolio, the WALLY WOOD'S WEIRD SEX FANTASY PORTFOLIO, released in November, 1977, at the Thanksgiving NY comic con. Woody personally hand signed and numbered the first Plate (12"x16") in each and every Portfolio. He swore he'd never do tht again...and he didn't until I talked him into hand signing and numbering his Plate for the NATIONAL CARTOONISTS' SOCIETY PORTFOLIO OF FINE COMIC ART one year later. Again he swore never to do this again...and he didn't.
This is the ONLY hand signed and numbered Portfolio Woody ever did in his decades as a preeminent comic artist. The Portfolio contains 12 12"x16" plates printed on the finest Strathmore papers via the highest technology printing available over 40 years ago. This specific Portfolio is #52/2000 and has the rare hardcover slipcase. Only 50 of these slipcases were handmade just for this Portfolio after Woody asked for them to match the earlier WILL EISNER'S THE SPIRIT PORTFOLIO I had published using a handmade hard cover slipcase.
The WWWSFP originally sold for $20 in the buckram paper gold embossed slipcase regular edition and this Wally Wood custom slipcase edition sold for $50, which was top dollar at the time and only appealed to the wealthier Wood fans.
