Vtg Gerold Porzellan W Germany Mug Stein Puzzle Deer Fawns Lady Lithophane
Excellent condition. Displayed only. 7\" tall.
German Mug Stein marked Gerold-Porzellan Bavaria. Called the puzzle stein because the operator has to figure out how to drink from the mug without getting wet from all the holes.
When stein raised to the light with your Right hand, it will shows a cross-legged naked lady sitting in a chair. It cannot be seen from any other view, hence a Lithopane.
Definition: A lithophane is a thin plaque of translucent material, normally porcelain, which has been moulded to varying thickness, such that when lit from behind the different thicknesses show as different shades, forming an image. Only when lit from behind does the image display properly.
