This the bottom skillet for Wagner Ware's "5 Star Skillet Set". The set dates to 1941 and has brings over the Art-Deco design from the 1930s.This is a fine example in very nice restored condition.The cooking surface does have patches of very fine etching from corrosion, a few tine pin size pits and light utensil scores. Four sheets of printer paper slipped under one edge on thebottom stops movement on a granite surface. No chips, cracks or repairsand does not spin.
Test for flatness of skillet. With the skillet resting on apolished granite surface, press down all along the top rim searching formovement. If movement is found, slip pieces of printer paper under oneedge of the until pot stops moving.
This itemwas stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath andelectrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal of all residue fromprevious use making it safe to use once more. The item is lightly seasoned withone round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hour. This item was photographed in verybright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, itemsmay take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
