Vintage Keen Kutter Cutlery and Tools Storage Box ~ 35\" X 17\" X 6\" For Sale

Offering this vintage E.C. Simmons KeenKutter “Cutlery and Tools” tool box. Measuring 35”x 17” x 6” the outside exhibitsriveted brass hardware throughout. I’m not entirely sure what the brownmaterial is but it sure looks like a hardened leather stretched and riveted overa wood lath frame if this makes any sense. There is a very decorative KeenCutter brass lock with the key still intact. A half-height hinged cover opensrevealing a lift out wood parts tray with a storage compartment underneath.Also inside is a buckled 14” latching wood cover over what looks like a slottedarea for storing cutting blades. A really great looking piece with very strongmarkings but it does show age and wear. The most obvious is a 7” crack in theleather on the back surface. The cover does not fit perfectly so it isdifficult to secure the 4 separate brass latches and lock. The key does movewithin the lock but it certainly needs oil. Overall the tool box shows verywell with a very aged patina, the 4” wide Keen Kutter logo burned into the faceis terrific. Right out of attic at a recent estate, how many of these couldstill be around.
