TURTLE SHIP Of ADMIRAL YI

The Korean Turtle Ship is the first ironclad warship ever built. The ship was shaped like a Turtle, and it was invented and built by Korean National Hero, Admiral Yi Soon Shin in 1592 AD. During the Im Jin War between Korea and Japan (1592 - 1598), Admiral Yi\'s Turtle Ships were the vanguard of the Korean Navy, and controlled the seas to lead the Korea to victory. Admiral Yi is considered to be the most famous Admiral in Korean history, and a full size replica of Admiral Yi\'s Turtle Ship is on display at the Korean Naval Academy in Jin Hae.
