Vintage Foamite Firefoam Company Fire Extinguisher With Inner Chamber MUST SEE
You don't see these ones too often.
This extinguisher is from the original Foamite Firefoam Company, pre merger with Childs in 1923 and their later acquisition by American LaFrance in 1927.
This extinguisher can be dated between 1918, when the Foamite Firefoam Company was incorporated in New York City, and 1923 with their merger to Childs.
You'll see later extinguishers with Foamite-Childs or even later ones with American LaFrance-Foamite on the front badge.
When I found this, it was still full. I discovered that the inner chamber with it's top was still in there.
If you read the instructions on the front badge, it'll explain about the inner and outer chambers and how to load them.
In general in very good condition. Some minor dings throughout from the past 100+ years.
This extinguisher was covered in red paint throughout where you could barely see the writing on the badge.
I stripped it and worked my way down to 2500 grit sandpaper and then Scratch X and Brasso.
The top cap was tougher as it was heavily pitted so it is not as finished.
Also, this hose was on it, and it has some wear, especially on the outer sheath.
I considered an even better finish with 3000 grit sandpaper, but I leave that to you.
