A rare vintage ashtray, trinket tray depicting a Pavesi Autogrill on the Autostrada Del Sole, Italy.
The Autostrada del Sole opened in October 1964. The highway connected Milan to Naples and changed travel in Italy forever. The combined efforts of Mario Pavesini, a cookie factory owner, and architect Angelo Bianchetti resulted in high-designed Pavesi Autogrills perched above the highway. This tray features one of the Pavesi Autogrill locations.

The fine white porcelain ashtray, trinket tray has a depiction of a Pavesi Autogrill building along with the words "Autostrada De Sole" in green. The tray is made by S.P.M. Walkure Bayreuth, Bavaria Germany. This particular manufacturers mark was used from 1973-1980.It is in excellent condition. No signs of use.
Measures approx. 3 5/8" in diameter.
