Vintage Artist Signed Myrtlewood Carved Bear Figurine 4.75 X 3 X 2.25": $32.00
Handmade Vintage from the 1980s Materials: stain, wood Available for your consideration is this cute 4 3/8” tall Myrtlewood Carved Bear Figurine, handmade by Ernie Besler, Grants Pass, Oregon. Myrtlewood has been called “the tropical hardwood of the northwest” and has been utilized for over a hundred years to create everything from souvenir pieces to gorgeous pieces of furniture. These beautiful trees are native to the Pacific Coast, extending downwards from the southwestern coast of Oregon to San Diego, California. The Myrtlewood is also known as Pepperwood or Laurel Bay, distinguished by its aromatic scent. Its unique grain patterns differ depending on the soil. Unlike most woods, it is rare that one piece of Myrtlewood would match another; however, they do compliment each other nicely. The Bear Figurine featured here comes from Ernie’s Myrtlewood in Grants Pass, Oregon. Designed and created by Ernie Besler, the Bear measures 4 3/8” tall by 2 1/2” wide. Ernie’s initials EB are carved into the bottom. Ernie has been creating Myrtewood pieces for over 48 years and has a few videos online that walk viewers through his process start to finish that are worth checking out. This natural and neutral bear figurine would look lovely on a side table or shelf, adding a woodsy touch to your home.
