This is a single-sided Kansas Farmer Protective Service Sign from Arthur Capper’s National Protective Service Association of Topeka. It reads This Farm Protected, Cash Rewards, Thieves Beware and has a very cool eagle graphic.It is a painted tin metal sign, not porcelain.
The main side looks really good for its age with only minor wear and surface blemishes. There are two extra holes drilled into the sign, and it appears to have some paint on the edges that can be cleaned or removed. The other side has some rust spots and paint from the wall it hung on, which adds to the age and character.
I purchased the sign in this condition and have never attempted to clean it. I’m sure it would clean up and look even better with a little bit of care and attention.
The colors are nice, it’s in very nice condition for the age, and it measures approximately 8 inches tall by 13.5 inches wide. It would make a nice addition to any sign collection and the price offered is very fair.
