Very rare 1762 Dutch Miniature Bible, 'Bible de Chignon', 'Haar-knoten' Bibel For Sale

Very hard to find and very valuable Dutch miniature (Huguenots) Bible, 'Haar-knoten' Bibel, or 'Bible de Chignon', printed in Holland in 1752, richly illustrated with 12 lovely copper engravings.

In order to be able to continue reading the Bible and singing psalms in secret after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685) and to minimize the risk of being discovered, the Huguenots also used Bibles or parts of the Bible (topknot Bibles, French Bibles de chignon) and Psalm hymn books (Psautiers de chignon) in small and small format. According to tradition, women could hide these in their hair buns and bonnets.In fair condition. Complete. Crack through the middle of the spine , and between the spine and the front cover,but all still solid and well atached. Two leaves damaged with loss of text. Other wise in good condition.
