This Machine is NEW. RIGHT HANDED. Like new. Absolutely never used . This one was made in July 2009. Super lightweight. Great tool.
- All vernier levers lock and unlock smoothly and Index spins freely.- Protractor handle lock positively and release easily as designed.- Upper Bands were slack so I adjusted for proper tension. (Even new from the factory they need to be checked)- Pulleys and bands are clean and not corroded.- Clamp screw is clean and spins smoothly and fully open and closes as it should.- Base Plate has 2 Very tiny crease marks. Any blemishes would be from handling and storage but that\'s it on this one. - white specs in pics is lint from the towel I used. (didn\'t even see them till the pics were done!)
Scales are are EXCELLENT. All Bruning. All drawing edges perfectly smooth. Etchings and numbering are crisp and clear. Light scuffs and scratches consistent with age, mostly on the center bar.- (1) 18\" - Full-(16ths) And Half (16ths). .- (2) 12\" - 1\"and1/2\"per Ft.& 1/4-1/8per inch. Matching Set. (Scales with these division are used in 90% of Residential Drawing)
- Scale remover cam with band pin lock and Adjustment wrench. (Explained in manual)- Erasing template - stainless steel - Excellent.- Eraser is Sovereign, made by Alvin - Excellent. Runs like new. Slight nicks on body.- 24 White Vinyl Magic Rub Erasers. Same as Faber-Castell #79. (the only ones that won\'t shred drawing paper like rubber).

Ihave been using...repairing... and selling elbow and track drafting machines of most Makes and models for over 30 years. ALVIN was originally The Best original iteration of all forms of machines but were canceled out of the US due to a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit by the Vemco Corp in the 1970s or so. Then the \"Band and Pully\" machines took over. Until then Mutoh were the premier machines and prototypes.
I was on a first name basis with the Vemco rep. for many years and learned much from her. Of particular interest was that once the Vemco machines dominated the US market thatthey bought and sold parts and equipment makers forseveral other machines. These include Post, Teledyne Post (formerly Mutoh) andBruning. Vemco was the last manufacturer standing before CAD took over.
I only sell machines and scales that are good enough to be -inspected and rejuvenatedto perform as they were intended. All descriptions and pictures are meant to be asimportant and useful as possible.
AND more importantly I enjoy giving new life to these amazing unknown and discardedingenious machines from the mid century era until now.
