VTG 2 Fenton Fine Rib Carnival Glass Swung Vases Marigold Art Nouveau 14 Inch #916Very good condition especially for being about a century old. Clean,Two similar but different, fine rib swung glass vases. Marigold orange with an iridescent hue overall to offer a rainbow effect.Each measures 14 1/4\" and 14 1/2\" tall respectively. The spread tops vary from 4 1/4\" wide to 4 1/2\". At the bottom they measure 3 3/4\" wide.
Fenton artisans crafted these beauties and were produced early in the 20th Century. These early Fenton Carnival Glass Marigold Swung Fine Rib Vases are gorgeous pieces and are in very good condition especially for being about a century old.There are 3 sizes made and these are the largest in the series.
Each vase weighs about 1 3/4 lb each. They will be carefully packed for travel.In general, most Carnival vases are fairly tall and slender, their mouths opening wider to fan out their floral contents to best effect.In the creative process of a swung vase, the pieces were extracted individually from their molds, clamped on the end of a snap, reheated in a glory hole and literally swung by the glassmaker whilst the glass was still elastic in texture, to achieve their finished length.It is this individual reheating—each vase being reheated to slightly different temperatures and in different places—combined with the direction of(and the energy expounded on) the “swing” that makes each vase unique.
