We are pleased to offer for your considerationan authentic ANTIQUE / VINTAGE GRISWOLD CAST IRON LAMB CAKE MOLD, PART No.\'s # 865 and 866. Circa 1930. This lamb mold consists of two separate cast iron pieces which fit together when baking to form a 3-dimensional lamb cake, generally used at Eastertime. The front piece of the lamb mold is its right side lying down with its face turned toward you. There is a small tab at the front and the back, each with an open hole in the middle; 865 on the inside surface of the back loop. The back section of this lamb mold also has the legs lying down, but you\'re looking at the back of his head and ears. There is a looped handle at the front and back; 866 on the inside surface of the front handle. These handles are next to the tabs on the front section when nested together. The back part of this lamb mold has an extra rim all around which fits over the front section making it look more like one piece instead of two. This cake mold is in excellent condition with no cracks, no pitting, no warping, no damage noted. The front piece sits flat on a hard surface with no wobble. The back section can be rocked back a little due to the raised rim at the bottom. For display purposes, you will probably need to fasten the handles and tabs together, otherwise the back part tips away from the front part. The front of the lamb has a cast iron tab at the front and the back which help to balance it when displayed; this same type of cast iron tab is on the back of his head. If it has been used, it doesn\'t show it. It has been gently cleaned and restored to like-new condition, then lightly coated with Crisco to prevent rusting.
MEASUREMENTS: Approximately 10 1/8\" long without the handles; approx. 4 1/8\" wide; approx. 7\" high.
