BIOGRAPHY:Roy Kemp (1920 - 1976) was aNew Yorkbased photo journalist.Early on in his career, in the 1940s,heearned a reputation for being one of the finest burlesque photographers in the United States.Hiselegant photographic style and attention todetail made him thefavorite photographer among allthe leading burlesque dancers.Kemp’s talents as a photo journalist provide him a uniqueperspectiveonthe lives of his models.By 1960, this insight led to a considerable change in hisphotographic style. Gone werethe glamorous sets and smiling models.Instead, thewomen becameyounger, edgier, and with fetish symbolism throughout.Many have commented thatKemp\'s darker photographic style was among the earliest examinations of the sexploitationart genre on film.
