This wonderfully weird one-of-a-kind mid-century vintage monkey lamp started life as a very human-like ceramic monkey statue.
The cheeky monkey himself is 18.5” tall, sitting on a tree stump, happily eating a peeled banana. He holds a second banana in his other hand, and looks over his right shoulder.
Sometime in the 1950’s, Monsieur Monkey was crafted into a lamp with the addition of a painted wooden base, electrical cord, finial and lampshade.
The finished product stands an impressive 27” tall from base to finial. The pleated fabric lampshade measures 20” across and if you intend to replace it, we’ll happily remove it for easier shipping.
The lamp is in perfect working condition, and the monkey is perfect, too - no chips or damage. The cord appears to have been repaired with electrical tape and then painted along with the base, as evidenced by the paint spatter on the green felt under the base.
If you’re considering giving this monkey a home, I’ll take him to UPS and find out the shipping cost. Please message with any questions.
