Two Antique German Beer Stein by A.Diesinger Gnomes and Courting Couple c. early 1900s

Description: These two old steins were made in Germany by Adolph Diesinger between 1901 and 1910. A. Diesinger is one of the most collectible beer stein manufacturers. His designs are unique and hard to confuse with anything else. They are considered by some collectors as "quintessentially German". Adolph Diesinger - the owner of the factory - was at the same time the artist who created these designs - very close to "naive art" to the point of being kitchy.

The stein on the left marked with "Gesetzlich Geschutzt" patent mark and the patent number "DRGM 154927". This patent number was taken by A.Diesinger in 1901 and was in use until 1910. The stein shows Munich Child - the symbol of the city of Munich for many centuries.

The stein on the right shows several Cupids or Cherubs playing, and a word "Prosit" (Cheers) underneath. It has model number 9 - it's older than the one on the left, one of the first Diesinger models - most likely from 1890s.

The steins on the left is 8.5" tall to the top of the thumblift, the one on the right is 8", both 0.5 L capacity. Very nice and impressive drinking vessels.

The Munich Child steinhas 2 tight hairlines, the other one is in excellent condition.

Condition: See description. Year: 1901-1910 Country: Germany Maker: Adolph Diesinger Height: 8 in. Materials: pottery
