Tonita NampeyoMoth or Butterfly PatternHopi Pot
For Sale here is a wonderful Tonita Nampeyo, daughter of Fannie Nampeyo, granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano, pot. Tonita was born in 1934, and she has been making pottery since the 1950s. She is the matriarch of the Nampeyo family, and the current head of the Corn Clan. Tonita is world-renown, and her work is featured in nearly every publication on Hopi pottery.
It was hand built, and features the famous Moth pattern, which is sometimes incorrectly called a butterfly pattern, and the top is uniquely finished to resemble a Kiva village. Approximate size is 4-1/4\" Diameter x 4\" Tall.It is in overall excellent condition as shown in the photos. No bad handling, hairlines or other issues. This pot is in about as mint condition as you will ever find.
This is part of my personal collection of Native American pottery that I will be thinning out a little as I have run out of room in my display cabinets.
