The captions here have more information than usual. There are local maps, images of the late steam era, some diesels in their 'as delivered' paint schemes plus some Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic Baldwin diesels.
The 1985 merger of these two railroads was an "accidental merger” according to the author who was an Assistant VP-Planning for Soo Line. This volume sets up the two roads in the years preceding the combination.
