This Machine is in BEAUTIFUL Condition. RIGHT HANDED. Like new. This was never or barely used. Super lightweight. The Clamp is Very Rare because it is a separate piece from the top mounting plate and it is almost always lost over time. Without the clamp the machine must bepermanently screwed to the drawing board.
This machine was the PREMIERE Portable Band & Pulley drafter that Vemco copied. But the whole control head is highest technology and construction for its time. Beautifully engineered and Effortless to use. All functions workflawlessly.- Bearings are all clean.
- All vernier levers lock and unlock smoothly and Index spins freely.- Protractor handle lock positively and release easily as designed.- Bands have been adjusted for proper tension. Pulleys and bands are clean and not corroded.- Clamp screw is clean and spins smoothly and fully open and closes as it should.- Any blemishes would be from handling and storage.
Scales are are LIKE NEW & EXCELLENT. All Vemco. All drawing edges perfectly smooth. Etchings and numbering are crisp and clear. Very, very Light scuffs and scratches consistent with age- (1) 12\" - Full-(32nds) And Half-(16ths). By Viking. Mint except for some faded print on name.- (1) 12\" - 1\"and1/2\"per Ft.& 1/4-1/8per inch. Open graduations. By Rumold. (made by K&E)- 6 scale Tri-Sided ruler (Alvin). Ihave been using...repairing... and selling elbow and track drafting machines of most Makes and models for over 30 years. ALVIN was originally The Best original iteration of all forms of machines but were canceled out of the US due to a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit by the Vemco Corp in the 1970s or so. Then the \"Band and Pully\" machines took over. Until then Mutoh were the premier machines and prototypes.
I was on a first name basis with the Vemco rep. for many years and learned much from her. Of particular interest was that once the Vemco machines dominated the US market thatthey bought and sold parts and equipment makers forseveral other machines. These include Post, Teledyne Post (formerly Mutoh) andBruning. Vemco was the last manufacturer standing before CAD took over.
I only sell machines and scales that are good enough to be -inspected and rejuvenatedto perform as they were intended. All descriptions and pictures are meant to be asimportant and useful as possible.
AND more importantly I enjoy giving new life to these amazing unknown and discardedingenious machines from the mid century era until now.
