For sale is a6 5/8\" brass cased US Navy manometer. These were used on submarinesduring World War 2.This example is made by Taylor Instruments, Rochester NY, and is very good condition.
The back of the case is stamped U.S. Navy Bu Ships 984 1944.
The black dial reading pressures up to 37 inches of Mercury. These were used to check for leaks while submerged andaccurate monitoring of the inside hull pressure.
The numbers on the dial are luminescent, but the hand is not. There maybe radium on the dial and bezel. Please use caution when handling.
The US Navy and Taylor name are imprinted, but not painted.
There are some scratches on the clear Plexiglas.
The case back measures 6 5/8\" in diameter. The dial is 4 3/4\" and the case is 2 5/8\" deep.
The manometer is working and the case looks nice for it\'s age.
A very rare piece of US Navy history.
