SUPERIOR VINTAGE NATIVE AMERICAN NAVAJO STERLING SILVER CONCHO PENDANT/ PIN:
$245.00

An astounding old vintage Navajo silver pendant/ pin. What a marvelous concho design pin/ pendant! This large, dimensional piece will look fabulous dressed up or dressed down - and as a pin or a pendant! It has a silver loop at the one end with opening for a vertical pendant! The intricate stampwork showcases traditional Navajo geometric patterns. Concho jewelry has a rich history in Native American cultures, particularly among tribes in the Southwestern United States such as the Navajo. Sterling silver. The pendant measures around 2"inches x 1"⅝ Sturdy 18.9 grams. Traditionally, Native Americans used jewelry to showcase their rank, their history, and their individuality. Jewelry was used to carry traditions between the generations (as written language was never developed by the Native Americans). Jewelry also had an important role in trade between tribes, as styles and designs varied between the different nations.

Technology and creative methods were passed between tribes; for example, the Zuni first incorporated silver into their jewelry designs in the 1870s, after learning the craft of silver-smithing from the Spanish in the 1850s. This knowledge soon travelled to and was adopted by the Hopi, the Navajo, and the Apache, among others.
