This rare item is not in the Urban Cummings book Wick Lighters 1913-2000.
Mr Cummings told me that he is contacted occasionally with people who have other Ronson Striker lighters not in the book. Some of these were included in the second edition and appear towards the back of the book.
When I purchased Lion for $1000, the seller was certain this is a Ronson. It certainly appears to be, with the high detail and definition to the casting and beautiful design, plus the characteristic Ronson striker wand.
Now I can’t recall (some ten years on) what provenance came with him, so I just looked online and got two screenshots of the same piece with associated provenance in the description. Please see pix.
Lion does not have any Ronson or AMW stamping, but neither do many others which r known authentic Ronsons.
In summary, I believe this piece to be a Ronson extremely rare striker lighter, but I sell here on the understanding that the buyer is satisfied that this is the case.
If anyone viewing can give me more info about Lion that would be much appreciated.
