Rare c1915 Postcard Mechanics Hose Company Firefighters Parade Wagon Pittston PA:
$499.99

This rare c1915 postcard features the Mechanics Hose Company, which is a group of firefighters in a parade.

Approximate size: 5.4 inches x 3.5 inches

The location of this firemen group is believed to be Pittston, Pennsylvania, based on the few locations this group could be from and a similar look to other photographs from Pittston (this, however, is not confirmed). There are other firemen groups of the same name in places like Texas, Ohio, and West Virginia.

The look of this postcard is crisp and appealing, especially with the large group all posing for the picture next to their horse-drawn parade wagon. There are a few lawmen down in front, and it would be fascinating to know why they're included in the picture, perhaps as a firemen/policemen combination. Perhaps they worked out of the same building and therefore were thought of as together.

The Mechanics Hose Company No. 3 of Pittston is a fire company that applied for a charter on Nov. 16, 1885. It's part of the rich history of fire companies in the Greater Pittston area, which also includes the Niagara Hose Company, Eagle Hose Company, Black Diamond, Excelsior, and Germania hose companies. The origin of these company names remains a mystery.

Please inspect the pictures, as they give the best representation of condition.May have discoloring, edge or corner wear, marks, creases, fading, smudges, corner or edge bends, tears, or corners missing.
