Armine von Tempski is one of Hawaii\'s foremost novelists of the 20th century, most often remembered for her autobiography, BORN IN PARADISE. She was born and raised on the Haleakala Ranch on Maui and possessed a great understanding of the people and places that she chose to create stories around. HAWAIIAN HARVEST is a family epic style story. Shortly after this original 1933 edition was made available on the market, the publisher was forced to withdraw the book due to alleged similarities/parallels to one of Hawaii\'s Kamaaina families. For that reason, this is the most difficult of the von Tempski Hawaii novels to obtain.
The vintage copies published by the Frederick Stokes Company during the 1930s were inexpensively produced editions, attune to the depressed economic times. Unfortunately very few copies of HAWAIIAN HARVEST actually got into circulation and of those, the majority were to public libraries. Rumor has it that many copies were burned by the Baldwin family to prevent distribution. With the controversy that ensued, the book subsequently became highly collectible with very few copies remaining today, particularly those that were never marked up for Library Service.USPS Priority Mail Delivery packed to prevent damage, Insurance coverage included and Priority Mail International shipping at cost.
