The Carte de Visite abbreviated CDV was a type of small photograph, patented in the early 1850s. It was usually made of analbumen print, which was a thin paper photograph mounted onto a thicker paper card. The size of aCDVis generally 5.4.cm (2.125in) × 8.9cm (3.5in) mounted on a card sized 6.4cm (2.5in) × 10.0cm (4in).
